Winter Solstice-Lunar Eclipse-Full Moon in Cancer




Today is a very cosmically significant day for several reasons. First, it is the Winter Solstice - the shortest day of the year. Second, there will be a Total Lunar Eclipse today during the hours of 4:40 and 5:54 pm [JT]. Third, this is all happening with the moon in Cancer, my sign. There was actually a partial lunar eclipse on the eve of my birthday as well. Clearly the Universe is speaking to me.

Just last week I finished reading Brida by Paulo Coehlo, a story about a young girl's journey into the Traditions of the Moon. And it got me to thinking about reincarnation and my life's journey so far. I honestly believe that I was a priestess/ herbalist/ witch in another life. Everything I have been discovering about myself lately seems to lead me back to the moon. As if I am somehow astrologically plugged in to its celestial powers. It's a feeling I can't explain. It just is.

In any case I've decided to use this current ecliptic lunar solstice to renew my connection with the Moon, my muse as it represents the divine manifestation of female energy in its most potent form. As women we need to stop resisting our lunar impulses and start giving in to its immense powers.


Today's ceremony may include libation, ululation, meditation, salutation, affirmation and levitation. Astronomical things like this happen only once in a lifetime and they are an opportunity to make a direct connection with the Creator. We just have to be open to receiving the light.
